Snack time

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers Convention. It was very inspiring to see the artwork and attend workshops from artists around the world. I enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones. One of the highlights (beside the fact that I will not be on the board and will have more time to paint) is that I entered the competition and won a gold ribbon! This is a 10x10 inch tray with a chipmunk snacking on wildrose buds. (Shhhhh....he doesn't know he has won a gold ribbon)

Growing up in Texas there weren't a lot of cherries. When we came home from school, my mom always had a snack for us. In lean times, it might be bread with butter and sugar sprinkled on top. But when times were good, we had a variety of home baked treats or fruit. A special treat was CHERRIES! I can see my mother carefully counting out the cherries, making sure that we each got exactly the same number which was about 8. And we enjoyed each one of them. Cherries - a happy memory.
